Founded in Paris in 1833, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a worldwide community of more than 800,000 lay Catholics, known as Vincentians, who strive to become modern-day Good Samaritans, by growing in holiness through personal relationships with, and service to, people in need.
The National Council of the United States, Society of St. Vincent de Paul was established to organize and represent local SVdP Conferences and Councils among the global Society’s membership. Today, with nearly 100,000 members, SVdPUSA provides resources, training, and spiritual development for Vincentians throughout 4,428 local Conferences and 500 Councils.
